Brockley Brewery

If you know Brockley, you’ve probably heard of Brockley Brewery too. If you weren’t aware of what it’s all about, hopefully this blog will shed some light on how they are a part of the local community and give back.

Brockley Brewery was founded in 2013, and has developed an outwardly focused, positive devotion to the local community. How? To start off with, Lewisham borough is filled with families and individuals from all over the globe, which may sometimes scatter a sense of united community, whether or not you’re an international student here or an elder here for retirement. Right off the bat, the brewery serves as a great place for socialising, with a cosy and family-friendly atmosphere, open for anyone to pop in. Many customers of the brewery bring along their families and friends and loved ones too, making it a real place to belong and share.

The core intent of the brewery is simply to provide customers with a sense of community, and perhaps a feeling of ownership to the place as well. But that’s not all…

Charitable Giving

Brockley Brewery has recently raised money for several charities, including Shelter, Help Refugees, Cancer Research UK and Marie Curie. The most recent event for charity donations was the XMAS CHARITY – held on 21st December, 2018 for Shelter and Help Refugees through bar sales and a bumper raffle.  Martin Rowson – a local cartoonist and writer – has donated Guardian cartoons as one of the prizes for the last couple of years.

The members also take part in the Brockley Xmas Market, which is a great opportunity to work with other local businesses consisting of arts, festive food, gifts and live music with 72 stalls. Furthermore, they also raised donations in several charity events, such as working with Masala Wala Cafe – a Pakistani cuisine located in Brockley – for Help Refugees, staff fun runs for Marsha Phoenix for young and homeless women, charity swims in Greenwich, and also funding tree planting around the Brockley area.

Brockley Brewery and its members strive to positively contribute under both a local and international context for those in need. With a dedicated vision to make the world a better place, the brewery also pays their employees London’s Living Wage. In consideration of London’s expensive cost of living and the principle of the brewery, the employee can certainly understand and align their actions with the main purpose of the brewery as well.
Please check them out on their media platforms, because they genuinely strives to promote a sense of community!
