Do you need man and woman-power to build a community garden, paint your community centre or staff your charity shop, café or food bank etc?
Community Payback provides free supervised work by ex-offenders and are looking for projects in Lewisham.
There are three types:
Action Days: 10-20 service users and a Supervisor undertake work over a set number of days (e.g. clearing large grounds)
Supervised Project: 10 service users and a Supervisor attend every week, ongoing (eg. prep, and painting of park railings)
Placement: 1 or 2 service users attend a charity shop, food bank or café etc, and their work is supervised by you, like a usual volunteer.
Your organisation will need to organise access to toilets, plus refreshments and all tools and materials.
Community Payback focuses on transforming the lives of ex-offenders within the Probation Service. They seek to break the cycle of re-offending by developing links in the community and creating opportunities to assist them gain skills.
