Five BAME agencies are working closely together to support the most vulnerable local residents from the BAME community affected by Covid 19. Africa Advocacy Foundation and Urban Dandelion already supports and empowers vulnerable and disadvantaged older BAME people and their families to overcome barriers and disadvantages including ill health, poverty, deprivation, violence, isolation mental health. They provide information, advocacy, advice, practical support, and training, health and nutrition walks and advice and more. The other three organisations, Action for Community Development, Joined Up Thinking and Lite-waves Therapeutic Education will help provide and coordinate DBS checked volunteers to support the logistical response to the demand for support that we have seen among the most vulnerable BAME people in Lewisham. We will also coordinate our efforts in tandem with local trusted networks including Lewisham Local.
