  • Collective Cinema is a new pop up cinema based between Lewisham and Blackheath. It combines film screenings with live music and drinks and snacks from local suppliers for a great community experience

I am a Lewisham resident, and have lived in south east London since 2007. I am a big cinema fan, both of new films and pop-up cinema experiences. I thought there could be an opportunity to bring a new pop up cinema experience to Lewisham, as there are not that many cinematic experiences in the town centre area at the moment.

After doing some research into possible venues, I found St Margaret’s Church, a beautiful 19th century gothic building situated between Lewisham and Blackheath, that I thought had a lot of potential for film screenings. I also wanted to make the experience about the local community, so I have been working with Blackheath Centre for Singing, who will provide live music (church organ and vocals), and I will be selling drinks and snacks from local vendors (e.g. Brockley Brewery, Doisy & Dam).

I’m screening a range of different films that should appeal to different audiences; families with young kids, young adults, couples and older people. All at reasonable prices (tickets start at £10 for adults and £5 for children). Films are mainly on Saturdays, for full listings see the website: www.collectivecinema.co.uk
