Lewisham Council has a list of support available during the Covid-19 outbreak.


Community Connections Lewisham‘s phoneline support will be closed over the Easter Bank Holiday period. They are normally accessible via 0330 058 3464, from Mon-Fri 9.30am-4pm.


Advice Lewisham offer a freephone Advice Line 0800 231 5453 to support residents with enquiries about benefits, housing, debt, employment, immigration, family and a range of consumer issues. They are open on Thursday 1st of April 9.30-4pm, closed Friday 2nd of April, Monday 5th, Tuesday 6th of April and re-open Wednesday 7th of April


Citizen’s Advice Lewisham have an online self help portal that provides you with answers to the most frequently asked questions around Housing, Benefits, Employment and more. There are also help links to other support organisations within the borough and tools to help you find the best solutions to issues.

Athena Lewisham provides confidential, non-judgmental support to those living in the London Borough of Lewisham who are experiencing gender-based violence. It can be used by:

  • Women and girls aged over 13
  • Men aged 16 or older
  • Transgender and identifies as male, female, as another gender, or is questioning gender identity

Catford Fridge Station – Saturday 3rd April

Lewisham Irish Community Centre, 2a Davenport Rd, SE6 2AZ.  Saturdays between 2-3pm Catford Fridge give out solidarity bags of food during FoodCycle Lewisham’s opening times; collect a hot meal and surplus food at the same time.

Downham Gleaning Pantry – Wednesday 31st, Thursday 1st,  Good Friday 2nd 

Brook Lane Community Church, 27-29 Brook Lane, Bromley BR1 4PX. Open Wed 5-7pm, Thurs 9-2pm Fri 9-2pm.  Social Pantry for people on low incomes and those affected financially by the impact of Coronavirus in Downham.  Residents pay a membership fee of £3.50 a week to choose from a variety of food.  To book an appt contact downhammutualaid@hotmail.com (can’t deliver)

Evelyn Community Store – Thursday 2nd April

Evelyn Community Centre, Kingfisher Square SE8 5TW. Open Thursday 2nd  2 – 5pm for free surplus food to local residents.  

Feed the Hill – food delivery boxes and social supermarket

Deliver food boxes to local housebound people in SE4 and SE14.  Boxes are delivered for free to those self-isolating or experiencing food poverty. Text: 07748 713 212, by the end of Saturday for next week. Boxes are nutritionally balanced and dietary needs catered for. Also run a small “social supermarket” for people on low incomes who may benefit from spending less on their weekly shop Wednesday 10-12pm. They offer a weekly shop for £2. Running as usual

Lewisham Donations Hub – every day

Unit D Place Ladywell, SE13 6NJ Support the homeless, those without recourse to public funds, refugees & others in the community facing acute hardship with food, clothing & household items.

Living Water Christian Centre Food Service – Wednesday 31st March

Pie N Mash Mutual Aid

Currently based in New Cross, they provide food parcels for anyone in need of support across SE London. To request help: piemashfield@riseup.net or 07857 024 435. Rehoboth Community Outreach – Saturday 27th March 11am-1pm, Thursday 1st April 11am-1pm,  Monday 5th April 11am-1pm

Ray Champion Room, 1-18 Allwood Close, SE26 4JP.  They can arrange deliveries for over 60s and families who would struggle to attend. Call 07946354617.

Salvation Army (Deptford Church and Community Centre)

144A Deptford High St, London SE8 3DP. Emergency food parcels for residents in the SE8 postcode area and refer families into additional support available in Lewisham.  They accept self-referrals and referrals from local agencies. St Peter’s Church Brockley – Social Supermarket – Wednesday 30th

43 Wickham Rd, Brockley, SE4 1LT. A Social Supermarket for people in the SE4 area on Wednesdays. Pay £3 membership weekly fee and choose enough groceries to last a week.  Dietary needs catered for.  Request food via the website link to get a shopping appointment. The Giving Life Food Project – Saturday 3rd April

Pepys Resource Centre, Deptford Strand.  London SE8 3BA. Open Saturdays between 11.30am-1pm.  For anyone in need in the local area.  Run by the Christ Embassy Church.

We Care Food Bank and Pantry – Every day

50 Friendly Street, Deptford, SE8 4DR. Social pantry at Kath’s Place Community Hub (part of the Kath Dugan Equality & Civil Rights Network) where members pay £5 for shopping worth around £40 as well as a foodbank (referral only), baby bank and store. 07871 187 162

Whitefoot and Downham Food Project – Thursday 1st

Hope Church 480 Whitefoot Lane Downham, BR1 5SF. Open Thursdays 7.30-8.30pm for those living in the Whitefoot and Downham area. You can just turn up. No delivery, pre-packed bags.

World of Hope

Meals

FoodCycle Lewisham – Saturday 3rd April

Providing a takeaway vegetarian meal from 2-3pm on Saturdays at Lewisham Irish Community Centre, 2a Davenport Rd, Catford SE6 2AZ from Saturday 12th of September.  Guests will need to register and leave a contact number for track and trace. Extra parcels from Catford Fridge.

Ichthus Church Community Table – Good Friday 2nd April

Friday 2:00-3:00 pm Ichthus Lee Green, 23 Lampmead Road, Lee, SE12 8QJ  07950 255 630 – takeaway service and deliveries to local guests if needed (subject to capacity).

UCKG Soup Kitchen – Saturday 27th March  & 3rd April

UCKG Help Centre 1 Bromley Road Catford, SE6 2TS 020 8698 3612.  Saturdays 11am-2pm, continuing with provision of home cooked soup, meals, and surplus food such as sandwiches, bread and milk to choose from and takeaway.  Meat and veg options.
