The Maudsley Centre for Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders operates across SE London (Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham, Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich and Croydon).
Eating and feeding disorders come in all shapes and sizes, and can be very confusing. They can affect anyone, regardless of age, ethnicity, gender, or sexuality. They usually begin in adolescence, but can occur at any time.
If you are a young person, a parent/carer or a professional and have concerns about a child or young person, help is available through the Maudsley Centre for Child and Adolescent Eating Disorders (MCCAED), which is based at the Maudsley Site in Denmark Hill.
Advice can be obtained, and self-referrals made, online here or via Telephone: 020 3228 2545 – clinical staff are available between Monday-Friday from 9-5pm. The website for the service also contains a list of useful resources.
MCCAED accepts referrals for young people up to the age of 18, who are registered with a GP in one of the seven boroughs listed above.
Before making a referral, please ensure that you have consent from the young person / parent, and can provide up-to-date height and weight measurements. There is no need to pursue any investigations by the GP first.
