To mark this year’s #TrusteesWeek we decided to join forces with Volunteer Centre Lewisham and Voluntary Action Lewisham to focus on trustee recruitment. Over 30 individuals and organisations came together to learn what it means to be a trustee and meet organisations looking for trustees.
The event took place at the wonderful Good Hope Café, PLACE Ladywell and was filled with people keen to support local organisations and take on the challenges and rewards of becoming a trustee. Current trustees of different organisations were also on hand to share their knowledge and experience and to explain what being a trustee means to them.
Trustees Week aside, small local charities are rarely in the headlines, but they continue to do vital work on a shoestring budget. They need people who can share their skills particularly in areas such as finance, strategic planning, HR, marketing and of course fundraising.
