The Village – supporting the wellbeing of parents and carers.
The past year has shown us all that we struggle in isolation, but this is something that members of The Village team already learned a few years earlier.
Becoming a parent (however that happens for you) changes your life. You are suddenly responsible for so much more than yourself and having to learn many new skills all at once. And you are knackered!
Without the proverbial village around you, offering practical and emotional support, this can really take a toll on your mental health and your ability to be the best parent you can be.
We all wished there was somewhere we could go, that was a welcoming place to bring children, but where we could meet other parents and access affordable services so we could heal, learn and grow.
Through various real life and digital connections, we found each other and decided to build that place ourselves: The Village was born.
We are so proud of what we have achieved in the last nine months. Our Walk & Talks in local parks were a lifeline for many parents during lockdown and have resulted in friendships being formed. We are at the wonderful Corbett Library and Community Centre every Wednesday offering a range of services including pelvic health physiotherapy, feeding support and family music. This month we are adding yoga, pilates and a community choir to our schedule.
The Village is for everyone. We never want money to be a barrier to people accessing the help and wellbeing they need and deserve. That’s why we created our unique pricing system. Some services are free, but there are three prices for every class or service that is paid for. You decide which price you pay, based on your circumstances.
We would love to meet and talk to even more local parents and carers so we can understand what people need and what we can offer. Get in touch via firstname.lastname@example.org to share your experiences or to get an invite to a relaxed consultation event.
Visit our website for more information and to book for a class or service. We look forward to welcoming you to The Village.
