Join Refugee Café and help celebrate the culinary cultures present in our community!
The role: To trade on Refugee Cafes market stall and educate customers about the products, currently Syrian and Ecuadorian, as well as raise awareness around the challenges local refugees face and create a buzz about new social enterprise Refugee Café.
Commitment: One 4-hour shift on a market stall each month. The market will be either on a Saturday / Sunday. You are welcome to do more shifts, depending on your availability.
About Refugee Café: We are a new non-profit in Lewisham on a mission of providing a pathway to employment for refugees in South East London. Unemployment among refugees is four times the national average, often caused by a lack of knowledge of the UK job market, language barriers and minimal social networks, leaving many people stuck in persistent poverty.
At Refugee Café we create employment opportunities for local refugee chefs, who make products using traditional recipes from their home countries that we sell at markets and events, enabling the wider community to celebrate each other’s culinary cultures.
How to apply: Please send an email, introducing yourself and why you want to get involved with Refugee Café, as well as your availability for August and September to: refugeecafeSE@gmail.com
